On Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads will honor the region’s most outstanding volunteers in more than 10 different award categories.
Awards will be granted to dedicated men, women and youth volunteers of the Hampton Roads community for their service and tireless dedication to volunteerism.
This year, VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads is proud to announce Kurt Rosenbach, former Senior Vice President of Haynes Furniture and former Chairman of Rices Nachmans Department Stores, as the Lenora Mathews Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. Mr. Rosenbach has served the community by being active in more than 20 different civic groups, serving as Chairman of the United Way of South Hampton Roads, founding President of the Downtown Norfolk Development Corporation, Vice Chairman of WHRO and President of Ohef Sholom Temple. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Norfolk Foundation, Greater Norfolk Corporation, Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Opera, United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, Tidewater Jewish Foundation and the Jewish Community Center.
The Corporate Excellence Award will honor Ramon W. Breeden Jr, President and CEO of The Breeden Company. As the 2013 Virginia Beach First Citizen, Mr. Breeden continues his commitment to the community with his ongoing advocacy and contributions to animal welfare, education and the arts. Mr. Breeden currently serves on the boards of the Virginia Beach Education Foundation, Virginia Symphony Orchestra and is actively involved with The United Way of South Hampton Roads and is a former board member of the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance. Mr. Breeden brings the importance of community engagement to The Breeden Company’s work culture as a whole and continues to assist with the growth of Hampton Roads.
The Hampton Roads VOLUNTEER Achievement Awards also recognizes individuals and groups that have dedicated their time and talents to the nonprofit organizations of Hampton Roads.
