Since its opening night in April 2015, Work|Release has quickly become the most unique nightlife experience in the greater Hampton Roads area.
Coupling a passionate focus on art (in all its forms) with the desire to build a stronger, more cohesive community, Work | Release is spearheading the unprecedented growth of Norfolk’s Arts District. In line with its goal to unite all ages, genders, races, orientations, and creeds under one roof, Work|Release is pleased to host Major and the Monbacks’ SOLD OUT third annual Thanksgiving concert this year tonight, on November 25th.

Touring locally and nationally, including a spot at Firefly Music Festival 2015, the band has earned a reputation for bringing all age groups together through a soulful blend of big band and rock ‘n’ roll that gets everybody grooving. Along with catchy original songs like “Annabelle” and “Somedays,” the Monbacks bring their own flair to several classic 1960’s rock and soul hits.
With the release of their self-titled studio album in May and whirlwind tour schedule over the summer, bassist Cole Friedman said that this hometown show is especially exciting for the group because they “get to play for and catch up with friends and family that they don’t get to see on the road or no longer live in the area.”
Complementing Major and the Monbacks’ superbly refurbished sound is the North Carolina vintage rock ‘n’ roll band Holy Ghost Tent Revival. Blending elements of folk, rock, and ragtime with a powerful horn section, the house is sure to be jumping early in the night.
So whether you get your ID checked wherever you go out or can’t remember the last time you were asked for it, Major and the Monbacks and Holy Ghost Tent Revival at Work|Release is sure to be a night no one will forget! Advance tickets are SOLD OUT, but a few limited edition physical tickets are still available at Zeke’s for $15. Get them while they last.
