Norfolk Public Works crews have been preparing for days for the arrival of Hurricane Arthur.
Since Monday, Public Works crews have been cleaning storm drains and ditches. Street sweeping crews have removed leaves and grass clippings off the road. This preventative measure helps keep the debris out of the storm drains and ditches.
Trash collection will take place as planned on Friday morning. Residents are asked to secure the trash can lids and remove the cans once the trash is picked up.
Towing and Recovery is operating on a regular schedule. Constructions sites will be closed and secured.
Storm water crews will be on standby to address any problem areas.
At this time Downtown garages are not slated to be opened. High tide is expected noon Friday. Most of rain should be out by then.
Festevents announced that due to conditions associated with Hurricane Arthur, the 4th of July festivities and fireworks scheduled for downtown Norfolk and Ocean View Beach Park for Friday, July 4 have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 5.
