For the second time this year the Norfolk Admirals hockey team is inviting man’s best friend to the ice for Pucks and Paws night, this evening, March 25.
Editor’s Note: All the dogs in this post can be your next best friend. Meet them at Norfolk Animal Care Center.
January’s event, open to several Hampton Roads shelters, saw a record attendance from Norfolk Animal Care Center (NACC) with 49 pooches in the stands. They hope to beat that attendance record this time and have even added an option for folks without a dog. If you don’t have a pet sharing your life right now, Norfolk Animal Care Center will offer a “virtual” shelter dog you can take in spirit. To choose your hockey companion, go to friendsofnacc.com and select a dog for a $5 donation.
Proceeds go to Friends of NACC, who fund medical care, shelter supplies and more for the lovable guests of Norfolk’s largest animal shelter.
For those bringing their furry companions, the game starts at 7:30 p.m. The Norfolk Admirals play the Orlando Solar Bears.
Human tickets have been reduced from $19 to $11 and dog tickets are $5. To get the Pucks and Paws price, all tickets must be purchased online by midnight, March 24. To purchase tickets, go to here, choose “Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center” from the drop down menu and enter code: PAWS16.
Tickets may be picked up at Will Call after 6 p.m. on the day of game. Will Call is located in the Scope Parking Garage in the Exhibition Hall. Dog owners are asked to keep their canine leashed at all times, sign a waiver upon entry and show proof of a rabies vaccine.
The Admirals will provide water for the dogs and will have volunteers ready should owners need to be temporarily excused.
