The Waxing Poetics were always cool, and they remained as cool as ever as they opened up the brand spankin’ new Virginia Beach concert venue called “Elevation 27” on Saturday night. The place was packed & one concert-goer told me it was “like a reunion here, full of all the people who used to go the Waxing Poetics shows back in the day”. I don’t think the band has ever sounded as great as they did on Saturday night though thanks to Elevation 27’s “state-of-the-art sound system, theatrical curtains, and acoustically enhanced interior”. Music sounds GREAT there (& looks great as well, thanks to their glamorous lighting set up). Fun place to see a show…I expect great things!
The Norfolk-based Waxing Poetics played a killer show chock full of “oldies” including “Baby Jane” & “Where your name is”. They also rocked out a new tune toward the end of the night which tells me some more new music may be on its way from this ultra-cool band. Let’s hope so!
More about Elevation 27:
Virginia Beach, VA – Elevation 27, Virginia’s newest music venue, stands 27 feet above sea level in the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach. The building, previously occupied by Steppin’ Out, The Jewish Mother and Eagle’s Nest, is now being transformed into the ideal music and entertainment experience.
Elevation 27’s innovative design responds to musicians’ preference for playing to full rooms in smaller venues. With a floating stage before a spacious open floor, a state-of-the-art sound system, theatrical curtains, and an acoustically enhanced interior, Elevation 27 is among the few venues nationwide that ensure artists and audiences experience the sonic perfection of a professional recording studio.
Elevation 27’s chairs, tables, banquettes, and covered outdoor patio provide guests with the option to socialize and watch shows while enjoying food prepared by Scotty Miller of the legendary Jewish Mother® Restaurant. The menu includes contemporary cuisine and Jewish Mother® classics.
Elevation 27 is the creation of Bill Reid and business partners Sara and Judd Mendelson and Russell Weitzner. Reid has developed and managed Virginia’s most notable music venues, including the Virginia Beach Amphitheater, the Norva, the Boathouse, the Abyss, Harbor Center, the National, the Classic Amphitheater and Innsbrook After Hours.
