NORFOLK, Va. – March 25, 2019 – Pedego® Electric Bikes will open the first authorized dealership in Hampton Roads at City Center, 223 E. City Hall Avenue in downtown Norfolk. The Pedego Norfolk dealership is owned by Amy and Kevin Oliver from Virginia Beach.
Colliers International’s Norfolk team of Perry Frazer and Brian Davidson represented the landlord of City Center, LNR Partners, LLC, in the 1,675-square-foot lease.
The Olivers first experienced electric bikes on a family trip to San Francisco last summer. “We rented Pedego electric bikes in Tiburon for six of us and spent the entire day exploring Angel Island State Park,” said Amy Oliver. “It was the best day of our trip. We were able to ride for miles throughout the park without worry of the strong winds, the steep hills, or not being able to keep up with each other. Everyone really enjoyed the day, the adults and teenagers alike. We decided instantly this was something we wanted to know more about so we made a return trip to California and met with the founders of Pedego. While we were in California, we met with eight dealers from Irvine down to San Diego. Each dealer raved about the company, but they especially get excited about their Pedego customers, who have a wide variety of reasons for buying or renting a Pedego electric bike. One dealer has stated: “When a customer buys a Pedego from me, I know in my heart that I’ve helped them in a way that no other product can. It’s an experience that I can’t even describe.”
Pedego makes a complete line of 17 electric bikes from cruiser, off road, city or specialty so customers can find a perfect fit for their individual needs and style. Prices start at $1,895 and go up to $5,495. The Norfolk store will offer new bikes and rentals for people to try them out or just explore the city. The store will also offer bike service for both electric and non-electric bikes. And, a Pedego Owners Group will have regular activities and events throughout the Hampton Roads region.
The retail shop will have a garage door that opens onto a bike trail leading to the Elizabeth River Trail and a bike-friendly city. Downtown Norfolk prides itself on its bikeability, and the entire city has established bike routes to make it easy, safe and fun to get around.
“We are also very excited to offer tours of the area on Pedegos,” said Kevin Oliver. “There’s so much to see, and we’re working on tours to our major attractions like the Chrysler Museum of Art and the Virginia Zoo in addition to breweries, the Cannonball Trail, a Norfolk Mermaid search, the many historic sites and the beautiful waterfront. These bikes are perfect for all ages and skill levels, and we anticipate they will be very popular with visitors.”
The store is scheduled to open in early May. To follow the progress, visit https://www.facebook.com/PedegoNorfolk/.
