There is something to be said about practicing yoga outdoors and in “non-traditional” spaces. Oftentimes I find myself compartmentalizing my yoga practice, and its by-products, to the studio. Getting out of the studio and practicing throughout the community truly helps you to remember that yoga can be done by anyone, anywhere and at any time.

Those seeking inner harmony often find themselves on a mat at Angela Phillips Yoga Studio. This studio offers a wide range of classes for all levels, as well as private sessions. Also available are workshops and certificate programs for those interested in teaching yoga. Director Angela Phillips believes that “it is what we take away from the practice, that sense of peace, expanded awareness and compassion that is truly yoga.”
After observing the struggles of balancing busy schedules and long work days with a regular yoga practice, Angela Phillips started the Enlightened Office program. This program brings yoga to the workplace and transforms an office or conference room into a private studio. Think your office space and colleagues could use a little extra zen? Give them a call!

My journey with yoga has been truly transformative. Yoga has helped me find strength, fluidity and balance in my life, career and relationships with others. More than anything, yoga has encouraged me to study myself. It’s eery how similar my struggles are both on and off of my mat. There are moments of heaviness, stagnation and unrest, whereas in other moments I find an airy, yet grounded sense of contentment and stillness.
Yoga has become more than a series of movements on a rubber rectangle, it is how I aspire to live my life.
