If you are a believer in cannabis law reform in Virginia — and chances are you are, given that 76% of Virginians support decriminalization — then next week is blooming with green for you.
Parents who believe that medical cannabis might (or already does) help their ill children will gather on Monday evening at New Realm Brewing in Virginia Beach at 6:30pm.
Healing professionals will be on hand to guide the conversation, along with folks from Virginia NORML, who will give us the latest on expansions to the law that they will be lobbying for at the 2019 General Assembly.
This will be the first meeting of what we hope to be a regular on-going support group for parents who believe that medical cannabis may be the answer for their children’s medical needs.
While this event is geared toward parents, anyone interested in medical cannabis is encouraged to attend and be part of the conversation. Here is the event on Facebook.
The acclaimed documentary “Weed the People” will be screened on Wednesday at The Naro Cinema at 7:15pm. “Weed the People” is filmmakers Abby Epstein and Ricki Lake’s unflinching look at the underground world of herbal medicine, where patients become experts on their own conditions and spend thousands of dollars on federally illegal medicines that are concocted in suburban kitchens. Nowhere is this phenomenon more compelling than in the treatment of children, whose parents will stop at nothing to help them.
There is a post discussion screening with the architect of Virginia’s medical cannabis bill, Jenn Michelle Pedini.
The Green Onion is supporting reform Wednesday night, too. Mention the green and they will donate 20% of proceeds to Virginia NORML. Here is that event on Facebook.
Veterans, minorities, and anyone interested in being part of the state regulated cannabis industry in Virginia will want to attend the panel discussion happening in Hampton on Thursday evening at The Ruppert Sargent Building downtown at 6:30pm. The conversation will cover things like what training will best prepare a person to enter the cannabis industry, what laws are creating barriers to entering the industry, and what marijuana-related legislation will be introduced at the 2019 General Assembly.
Five pharmaceutical dispensaries are coming to Virginia. Will you be one of the people they hire? Here is that event on Facebook.
