Throughout 2017, the City of Norfolk is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the creation of Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest navy base.
These June events are part of this yearlong celebration organized by the Norfolk Navy Centennial Commission, established by Norfolk Mayor Kenneth C. Alexander to celebrate the historic contributions the Navy has made to the city over the past 100 years.
The Tide Turns: Battle of Midway Symposium
June 2, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Hampton Roads Naval Museum and MacArthur Memorial, MacArthur Memorial Theater, free with registration. Homecoming at Harborfest® 2017
June 9-11, Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk. This year, one of the world’s premier waterfront celebrations celebrates the Centennial of the world’s largest naval base. The Parade of Sail will include Navy ships among the tall ships and private vessels, and ceremonial events will honor sailors who served here, past and present. The event will include a Navy aircraft flyover, Navy dive tanks, exhibits, U.S. Navy Coastal Riverine demos, ship visits and tours, and Navy-themed family activities. Country music star Travis Tritt performs Saturday night, followed by a patriotic fireworks display. A special concert featuring the U.S. Fleet Forces Band takes place on Sunday, June 11, at 2 p.m. Learn more at Festevents.org.

29th Annual Pride Festival
June 17, noon-7 p.m., Town Point Park, Downtown Norfolk, free. Hampton Roads PRIDE is proud to present its annual festival celebration of diversity and equality. PrideFest features the only LGBT Pride Boat Parade in the country, musical performances, venders, cultural exhibits and family entertainment. Wards Corner Festival: Honoring 100 years of the Norfolk Naval Base
