Vote for the “Cake Lady.”
It took only two years for Sarah Duncan Hinds to establish her reputation as one of the most conscientious members of the Portsmouth School Board. Since being elected in 2014 to fill a mid-term vacancy on the Board, Sarah has become a strong advocate for Portsmouth’s teachers, parents, and students.
A teacher herself, Sarah understands the importance of treating everyone as an individual, respecting their individual needs and concerns. That is why she is always available to answer questions and to explain the reasons for the votes she casts. Sarah demonstrates her commitment to transparency by regularly posting issues under consideration by the Board on her Facebook page, answering and returning phone calls, and meeting with constituents needing her help.
Sarah also argues forcefully for budgets that prioritize pay raises for teachers, adequate classroom supplies, and equal class sizes and instructional support. She favors streamlining the administration where possible and strengthening the dress code of students and faculty. Sarah enthusiastically supports expanding the school district’s career and technical education programs and seeks to partner with local employers to develop apprenticeship tracks for high school students.
For all of these reasons, myself and People for Portsmouth proudly endorses Sarah Duncan Hinds for a full four-year term on Portsmouth’s School Board.
