The Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission, in association with Kroger Company, seeks local artists interested in creating a large-scale (approximately 16’w x 5’h) indoor artwork in Chesapeake, Virginia. This artwork will have high visibility and will be prominently displayed within the store. The goal is to have the final work completed by July 15, 2016. The artwork should use local references to evoke a creative, uplifting feeling that encourages community and celebrates Chesapeake’s spirit.
To be considered, artists should submit up to 3 examples of their artwork in JPG format along with a brief biography and explanation of their connection to Chesapeake to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 11, 2016.
Finalists will be chosen based on examples of their work and their connection to the Chesapeake community. One of the finalists submitting a proposal will be chosen to create the artwork for the location. Payment to the selected artist is $7,500.
