Most of the trash that ends up polluting the Bay doesn’t come from boats or junk thrown from the coasts. It starts in the streets, where it makes its way through the sewers and into the Chesapeake.
That’s why it’s so important that we don’t litter, of course, but also that we participate in Clean the Bay Day. This annual event, now in its 26th year, makes a giant difference. Last year around 6,000 volunteers removed more than 135,000 pounds of trash in just 3 hours. Working together we make it all better.
This time around AltDaily is sponsoring Clean the Bay Day in the neighborhood around the Pilot Media offices: The Norfolk Arts District. It’s nothing complicated. We’ll grab some garbage bags. We’ll walk around and pick up some trash. We’ll make some friends. We’ll take direct action to beautify our community. I hope that we includes the you reading right now.
The event takes place June 7th from 9am to 12pm. Here’s an event on Facebook to join to get updates and reminders.
If you plan on attending please go to this page on the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s site and sign up. Under where it says ‘Group Affiliation‘, please type NFK Arts District.
See you there!
