We love being in Norfolk specifically because Hampton Roads is our home, where we first drank a beer so to speak.
Essentially, what makes us special is our inherent interest in providing a world-class beer list while maintaining our ideal of being very neighborhood-focused.
We are proud of serving beers that can only be found at our bar or in very big cities. Beer and community go hand and hand and we are wildly excited about serving our beers to both locals who we have grown to know over the past almost-2 years and those who come from other places to sample what we have to offer.
Malia and I are always behind the bar because we are basically obsessed with what we do and I think it is both meritorious and unusual these days to have that kind of enthusiasm for one’s occupation. We love being in Norfolk specifically because Hampton Roads is our home, where we first drank a beer so to speak. Through The Birch, we have been able to raise craft beer awareness and garner a fervor we could not have imagined. Thanks to everyone who has gotten us this far and to those who will drink here in the future.
Not sure if you know, but we have been nominated as one of America’s Top 50 Beer Bars. There is voting going on right now to narrow that list down to 15 and then the top 3 in the top 15 get especially recognized. Obviously, this would be awesome for us if we could be nominated… but I think it would also be a good thing for the city, showing that though many of the places nominated nationally are big-city, Norfolk has many big-city things with a smaller feel AKA beer bars, restaurants, entertainment… you know what I’m saying.
Thanks and hope you’ll give us a boost. Until we see you at the bar,
