DJ Shane Dollar has hosted numerous events at The NorVa through the years, but recently took some time off, in part, for a very important reason: to focus more on being a father.
“I took a couple of years off to run my business as a wedding planner and DJ,” he said, “and also to be a dad.”
Dollar, who was born and raised in Suffolk, is hosting “The Return of Shane Dollar” this Saturday at The NorVa. Sharing the big stage with him will be JAE, Faciqo, Jayowulf, QP’, Clayt & Tokyo Trendz, ELZ, The Freshman, FGMG, RhymeCrafters, GVNDA & Trevor Collins, Boris, MADhouse Muzik, and Prophecy.
“I’m excited for everyone,” he said. “Some acts I’ve worked with before, some I haven’t. I love seeing the new acts tackle The NorVa stage for the first time.”
While Dollar listens to a lot of old school hip hop in his everyday life — DMX, Jay Z, Nas, Biggie and Pac — he said this show will have a multi-generational flavor.
“This will be a diverse lineup,” he said. “New school and old school vintage hip hop. Something for all fans.”

Dollar hopes that shows like this bring people together.
“One thing I know that needs to be addressed is artist unity,” he said, when asked about how the Hampton Roads music industry can grow. “Working together and supporting each other.”
You can show your support this Saturday night. Doors are at 7pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. For more info or tickets, click here.
