Norfolk’s City Council Members have all expressed individual support for movement towards marijuana decriminalization in the Commonwealth.
What we need now is a show of grassroots support to convince them to include it as a priority in the city’s 2017 Legislative Package.
This will give a signal to our state representatives that we are ready for them to take the lead on this issue with the full support of the city behind them.
This Monday, October 3rd, from 6-7:30pm, at Slover Library, we will get together to talk about lobbying our elected officials on the city and state level; the upcoming Virginia Municipal League conference in Virginia Beach where marijuana reform in VA will be discussed; and other ideas for increasing awareness and support for this important social justice issue of our time.
Meet in room 115 at Slover, but we will be spreading out in small groups and going to the computer labs to write emails.
We are the change we’ve been waiting for. See you all Monday.
