This is Congressman Scott Taylor, who represents the 2nd District of Virginia, which includes Virginia Beach, the Eastern Shore, and parts of Norfolk and Hampton.
He voted against the environment, voting for the repeal of a rule requiring energy companies to reduce waste and emissions.
He voted against the working class, voting for the repeal of a rule requiring some federal contractors to report labor violations.
He has, already, consistently voted against the rights of women.
Scott Taylor has offered faint criticism of Trump, but his votes — connected, as if by a leash, to Trump — speak for themselves. He has only been in office for weeks, but the Democrats already see him as vulnerable. According to The Pilot, “the national Democratic Party is targeting him for defeat in 2018.”
People like Scott Taylor are facing a tough choice: he can continue to blindly support everything our erratic president does, casting himself as loyal only to power, or he can at least selectively push — and vote — back, broadening his support enough that he would stand a better chance of being re-elected here in Hampton Roads.
Is Scott Taylor a puppet of Trump, or is he his own man?
Is Scott Taylor only looking after himself and the “certain group of people” who elected him, or will he also look after the Chesapeake Bay, the blue collar workers of Virginia, and the women of the Commonwealth?
You can ask him yourself tonight when Taylor hosts a town hall meeting at Kempsville High School (5194 Chief Trail). It begins at 7pm. You are invited to attend, and to ask the questions you want answered.
Here is the Scott Taylor Virginia Beach town hall on Facebook. He is hosting a Town Hall on the Peninsula tomorrow, and on the Eastern Shore Wednesday.
