Help Plan City’s Future with New App and 3 Community Meetings
Leave Your Mark as Virginia Beach Updates its Comprehensive Plan
Last year, Virginia Beach reached out to residents and asked: What do you want our city to be? We heard you. We rewrote the city’s Comprehensive Plan to reflect your concerns about traffic, the environment and more.
Now we’re asking again: Did we get it right? Does the revised Comprehensive Plan address the things you love and the things you want changed?
We’ve made it easy to respond. In fact, there’s an app for that – and a series of three community meetings.
The app – SpeakUp! VB – is available through the Google Play and Apple stores. It offers 54 policy recommendations in 10 topic areas, including transportation, environment, urban areas, housing and open spaces. The full Comprehensive Plan includes hundreds of policies and recommendation in dozens of areas.
The app lets you rate the 54 recommendations. Choose the topics that interest you, read the recommendations and tell us if you love them or if they need work. The app lets you leave comments for any issue that concerns you.
City planners also will hold three community meetings throughout the city to discuss the Comprehensive Plan draft with residents. All meetings will be at 6:30 p.m.:
- Wednesday, Jan. 20 – Tallwood High School, 1668 Kempsville Road
- Monday, Jan. 25 – Creeds Ruritan Club, 1057 Princess Anne Road
- Thursday, Jan. 28 – Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St.
