The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for the band right about to play known as Major and the Monbacks.
An eclectic 8-piece ensemble band putting out a sound consisting of soulful retro rock, soaring three-part harmonies, and gritty Southern soul (thanks in part to the two horns and two percussionists) were prepping to go on live.
Hailing from Norfolk, VA, formed in high school and forged in college, fresh back from a 5 month, 100+ date east coast tour to promote their self-titled debut album, the vibe was apparent.
That this was a night of celebration- a full circle, a homecoming of sorts, of rest and relaxation even amidst a live sold-out performance.
The dimly-lit, buzzing, packed house of Work | Release swelling with a solid mix of both young and old, hipsters and professionals, out-of-towners and locals; a lot of locals at that too- Maury love!
What ensued was a great thumping night of high-energy sounds, as evident, hopefully, in these images.
