Appropriately titled “The Tide,” Norfolk native Skye Zentz was inspired to write the song by the city’s eclectic character and relationship with the water. Now, with the help of Jpixx, a local digital creative agency, Zentz is on a mission to showcase the city and community she calls home.
Filming for the music video began last month in partnership with the Downtown Norfolk Council and includes shots at Nauticus, Bob’s Gun Shop, the Virginia Zoo and more than a dozen other locations. Norfolk citizens can be part of the video’s grand finale scene at The Plot on Friday, July 18 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The event is known as “Pack the Plot” (more details on the event Facebook page). The Plot sits at the northeast corner of Granby and Olney Streets in the Norfolk Arts District.
“We want the final scene to showcase how much fun Norfolk is; how bright and passionate we are about our future,” said Zentz. “I want folks to come out, enjoy some great music and have a good time.”
The grand finale event is open to all ages and will feature local food trucks and live entertainment from Zentz. Jon Abrahams, founder of Jpixx, is directing the music video and asks attendees to dress colorfully and come ready to boast their Norfolk pride.
