Located in the NEON district of Norfolk, Virginia, the d’Art Center is an environment where working artists are part of an interactive arts community that engages the public through the experience of art and the creative process.
The d’Art Center hosts exhibitions, fundraisers, and other events, with studio space with over twenty professional working artists.
The d’Art Center invites applications for the Daily Operations Coordinator, a part-time (approximately 24-30 hours per week) position. Compensation is $13.00 per hour.
Regular established hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am-5pm and Thursdays from 10am-8pm. Additional hours are required as needed for events, receptions, and community outreach events.
Responsibilities: Serve as the main point of contact for visitors and patrons, to include answering questions, answering the phone, giving tours, providing information about the Center, taking payments, and other as needed; schedule community tours; check, report, and compile class and Camp registration lists as needed; check and report class enrollment; coordinate and facilitate artwork drop off and retrieval; maintain galleries to include patching walls and painting, plus similar facilities maintenance; facilitate exhibition installation and take down; assist with administrative paperwork to include developing systems for and tracking constituents; solicit, train, schedule, and oversee all volunteers for appropriate coverage at the Center and for its events; assist the Director with the development and implementation of community outreach, partnerships, and educational offerings; foster positive relationships with the staff, board, public, resident artists, and media; oversee associate artist communication and maintain associate artist galleries; serve as ABC manager for the organization; assist with facilitation of organizational events and activities; attend and represent the d’Art Center at community outreach and other events, as needed; other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience working in the art and/ or non-profit world preferred; experience with customer service preferred; experience with exhibition installation preferred; strong interpersonal and organizational skills required; commitment to the mission of an arts organization required; ability to lift at least thirty pounds required; proficiency with PC platforms, including Windows software (Word, Excel, etc.)
