With a sound that’s clawed its way out of the moldering crypt that used to be 1985? True Body is building a rabidly attentive fan base in record time.
Highly reminiscent of bands like New Order or Christian Death, this four piece, led by charismatic vocalist Isaac Moreno, gets better with every show they play. Anchored by the rock solid Sam Ramos on drums with keys from Nathan Byrum and Kevin Painter rounding it out on guitar, this four piece (rumored to be adding a bassist soon) exhibits the kind of chops you’d expect to see from groups that have been together for decades. Currently their itinerary has them in Harrisonburg at the Golden Pony on July 29th, with a closer to home gig in RVA September 7th at Strange Matter.
Before they hit the road though, they’ll be at Commune in the NEON on July 7th. You don’t want to miss this show: Their last gig at 37th & Zen blew the doors off. This was a first night at that venue for me, and I was impressed with both the sound system and the stage. I highly recommend checking out any future shows at that address.
This is a band that’s going to break big someday. True Body is the real deal. Pay them mind while they’re still smallish? Throw a few bucks at their Bandcamp to support their journey?
You’ll be able to brag that you knew them way back when.
