Hampton Roads Millennials, you have just one day left to share your voices with the world, and get the chance to win some awesome prizes.
Global Shapers Norfolk is raffling off two $25 gift cards to Smartmouth Brewing, and also, an Apple iWatch and Amazon Echo Dot. We’ll give these prizes away if we can get 200 Hampton Roads millennials to take the World Economic Forum’s annual survey on how millennials see the world. We are close to reaching that goal, but need your help to get there.
You can find the survey link here, and the deadline to complete it is tomorrow, June 30th. The survey will take you about 10 minutes to finish, and you’ll be entered into the running for the giveaways.
While it seems like a simple task, our voices together will make a statement about what millennials value, and what local, national and international leaders should prioritize. For instance, last year’s survey had more than 26,000 respondents worldwide, and 45 percent of them agreed that climate change was the most serious issue globally, followed by war, religious conflicts, and poverty.
One of the most promising points that came up last year is that millennials are an optimistic bunch. They see the glass half full, with 70 percent believing that the world is full of opportunity versus full of struggle. Also, the largest minority of survey respondents called themselves “citizens of the world,” saying their global identity is what defines them most, above things like nationality, religion, and ethnicity.
However, 2017 is a new year, and we need to hear from you. Even if you don’t consider yourself as a millennial, you technically are one if you are between the ages of 18 to 35. Like me, I’m 31, and a new mom – not your stereotypical millennial. I’m writing this article in between baby naps, hoping to help contribute some good. And just maybe, the “prizes” headline not only caught your attention, but you’ll also take the survey – for the greater good, and a chance at winning something cool.
