For Julia’s second public art piece, she’s teamed up with Brooklyn-based artist Esteban de Valle to create a mural on the Triumph Vaping wall. Theirs is one of the many murals created for Norfolk’s NEON district.
Christine Marie Rucker: What has it been like to collaborate with a 2D artist? How much fun are you having?
I address the idea of attachment versus detachment within my work. This is to say that we are all connected to each other as well as the natural world around us, but it is easy for us to slowly become detached through technology and modern day practices. I believe that when we are completely detached we cannot survive as humans.
