Man’s best friend is welcome as long as he or she is leashed and dog friendly. The event is from 1 to 5 p.m., Oct. 18 at the brewery, 211 W. 24th St. in Norfolk.
Tickets are $20 ($25 at the door) and patrons will get a custom Dogtoberfest beer glass, one free beer and a lunch voucher. Friends will also be selling Dogtoberfest T-shirts this year with the slogan, “In dog beers, I’ve only had one” on the back. To purchase tickets, go to FriendsofNACC.com.
Events and activities on Sunday are perfect for the entire family. Patrons will be treated to the delicious offerings of The Lucky Peach and Sofritos food trucks, live music by local musician, Joe Heilman, Paw-traits in the Oompah, Awesome Photo Booth, raffle prizes and their choice of tastings from O’Connor’s many award-winning brews.
Canine participants are guaranteed some yapping good fun with the Tricks-for-Treats competition and a chance to participate in the Pageant for Pups. Costumed canines will be trotted out to compete in three categories Best Dog & Owner Duo, Best Super Hero Hound and Best in Show. Only one pooch from these dapper dogs will be named “Toptober-Dog” of 2015. The winner will reign for a full year and will be featured as the “cover dog” for Dogtoberfest 2016.
