FACING OUR FEAR, an art exhibit featuring artists from Hampton Roads and across Virginia, will open on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2017 in the ODU Learning Commons at the Perry Library.
On that day, between noon and 2:00 pm in the Library Conference Room, there will be statements and commentary by some artists and a panel discussion. The exhibition will be on display from January 18 through January 28, 2017
FACING OUR FEAR was organized by a group of Norfolk artists, to give voice to their concerns about changing political times. To participate in this exhibit please visit the website Facing-Our-Fear.com.
There are three categories: student, amateur and professional. The judge will help compile a catalog reflecting a range of all categories. The deadline to submit is January 4th at 5pm.
Juror Sylvana Barrett is a practicing artist and an independent scholar on the topic of historical artist materials and techniques. She is a frequent museum lecturer and studio arts workshop leader. Barrett has been featured in numerous films and videos, among these is The Making of A Spanish Polychrome Sculpture. Her many presentations include a TedXTalk entitled “Putting the “art” back into “ART.”
