Medical marijuana advocates scored a major win in House Criminal Law subcommittee Wednesday, unanimously reporting Delegate Ben Cline’s Joint Commission on Healthcare bill HB1251 to #LetDoctorsDecide when to recommend medical cannabis to their patients.
Thanks to the advocates who’ve spent thousands of hours working to enact and expand Virginia’s regulated medical cannabis program over the last four years, we made history.
This session, Senator Siobhan Dunnavant (R-12) and Delegate Ben Cline (R-24) have introduced the Joint Commission on Healthcare bills, SB726 and HB1251, to expand Virginia’s limited medical cannabis law to #LetDoctorsDecide when to issue a recommendation. The measures would permit doctors to recommend cannabis oils to any patients whom they believe would benefit. Under present law, only a neurologist may recommend cannabis oils, and only for patients with intractable epilepsy.
WE’RE NOT DONE YET. WE NEED you TO TAKE ACTION NOW.
Ask your lawmakers to vote YES on SB726 and HB1251, so that all Virginians will have access to doctor-recommended medical cannabis. Click here to email your lawmaker now.
