What is Ghost Walk? It’s theater, it’s a party, it’s exercise in the crisp fall air… it’s all of that in one, and we have a Ghost Walk right here in the Historic District of Olde Towne, Portsmouth. Based upon the “Jack The Ripper Tours” in Merry Olde England, it takes you on a similarly blood curdling adventure through the historic streets of Portsmouth.
The walk starts in the Graveyard of Trinity Church, where you will begin your journey by learning about the true ghost stories centered around Olde Towne. You are then taken to the steps of the Court House Galleries and transported back in time to the Victorian era, and handed off to a guide, with their gas lanterns to light your way through town.
You will come upon, a choice: do you go east, or do you go west? Each route is filled to the brim with eight stories lovingly reenacted live upon the antique porches of these gorgeous Victorian homes. No matter which route you and your friends might take, though, you will all meet again at the Cider Park drop off site on Middle Street where there will be music, a giant tree man (We Are Groot!), and a giant witches cauldron bubbling and brewing the most enchanting Apple Cider, handed out with compliments from our friendly volunteers to help warm the chilled bones of our brave Ghost Walkers.
For less than the price of an average movie ticket, you not only get to hear true spooky stories told by live–well, at least undead, we don’t discriminate in Olde Towne–actors, take part in one of the best block parties in the 757, and help support a great local charity.
Mark Friday, October 24th on your calendars. Tickets are $10 and we will have tours going out at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. The walk goes on rain or shine, because inclement weather doesn’t bother the dead, so it shouldn’t bother us. For more, click here or check out the event on Facebook.
