Gen Silent follows six Boston area older adults over the course of a year as they deal with challenges of aging. The film puts a face on what experts call an epidemic: LGBT seniors so afraid of discrimination, or worse, in long-term and/health care that many go back into the closet.
Unlike any previous LGBT film about aging, Gen Silent startlingly discovers many LGBT older adults not just afraid but dangerously isolated. Gen Silent is also filled with hope as it shows a growing group of impassioned professionals trying to wake up the elder care industries to their plight, ensuring that LGBT older adults can age with dignity and respect.
Gen Silent brings attention to LGBT aging issues at a time when these issues are only going to become more critical as more baby boomers reach retirement age.
Since its world premiere in Boston, the film has traveled all over the world to critical acclaim, and received many awards. This is an issue that impacts many of your neighbors and fellow citizens. We hope to see you at the screening.
