The City of Norfolk, VA Public Art Program is seeking an artist/artist team to design, fabricate and install an artwork for Munson Park located in the Park Place neighborhood.

Summary
Munson Park is located in the neighborhood of Park Place in Norfolk, VA. Park Place, a diverse socio-economic neighborhood. The park is being renovated with new landscaping, a community garden, new backboards and paving on the small basketball court, and state-of-the-art playground equipment designed for children ages 5-12, including those with special needs.
We would like to commission strong, bright, fun artwork that represents children, families, community, and the people that live in Park Place. The work should be thought-provoking and inspire viewers of all ages: children, teenagers, and adults. Artists should be willing to work with the neighborhood and may incorporate ideas and actual pieces of residents’ artwork directly into the final piece.
The committee is open to all artists’ ideas and will consider artwork designed into the fence, borders for the garden, along the pathways and/or in the center 13’ diameter circle in the existing concrete walkway.

Artists are highly encouraged to apply through CaFÉ. There is no application fee to apply or use the CaFÉ online application system.
