4th Annual Sea Level Festival

Kick off your Thursday night right with the start of the weekend’s Sea Level Singer/Songwriter festival. All weekend, the corner of Colley Ave. & Brandon Ave. will have live music from 4-7. Enjoy special live performances by Karl Werne (@ No Frill Grill), Phoebus Rio (@ YNot Pizza), and Skip Friel (@ Colley Cantina) all for free, from 5-6:30. Then join friends, and our very own Hannah Serrano, at the official Sea Level 2011 Kick-Off Concert featuring Justin Townes Earle & Gina Dalmas (@ the Naro Theater, Tickets $35). Local media, political, and entertainment celebrities will have you feeling like a star. All you have to do is show up with an appetite and a pocket full of cash. Celebrity tips and a percentage of sales will be donated to Prevent Child Abuse in Hampton Roads. Help defend those who are defenseless by opening your wallets and your hearts.

This all day adventure will have you leaving the city behind and traveling from the Great Dismal Swamp to Lake Drummond. Lake Drummond is one of the only two natural lakes in Virginia, and it’s surrounding area (The Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge) is home to over 300 black bears, grey and red foxes, minks, bobcats, and deers. Don’t get too adventurous and wander off or you might be dinner! However, do bask in the glory and lore that is the Swamp and enjoy a day of exploration.

Local Hampton Roads artists have come together to bring you a unique art show. The Seven Cities Subculture Art Exhibit showcases skate decks, surf boards, customized shoes and more. A portion of the proceeds from this will benefit the Quicksilver Foundation.
